PENGUATAN KARAKTER PEDULI LINGKUNGAN MELALUI PROGRAM "BRAVE TO BE HERO" BERBASIS EDUKASI, DIGITALISASI, TATA KELOLA, DAN KOLABORASI BISNIS DI KELURAHAN SUKABUMI SELATAN, JAKARTA BARAT

Abstract

Low public awareness of waste management remains a major challenge in achieving a clean and sustainable environment. Strengthening environmental awareness through the "Brave to Be Hero" concept offers an approach to fostering environmentally responsible behavior, ecological leadership, and concrete daily actions. Becoming a hero for the Earth means having the courage to initiate small yet meaningful changes to preserve the environment. This Community Service Program aimed to enhance public awareness and participation in sustainable waste management through education, digitalization, governance strengthening, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. The program was conducted on July 27, 2026, at the Sukabumi Selatan Village Office, West Jakarta, involving village officials, neighborhood leaders, community organizations, youth groups, and local residents. The implementation methods included educational seminars, interactive discussions, the "Brave to Be Hero" campaign, digital educational media, and the distribution of official waste bank passbooks to encourage community participation in waste bank activities. The results indicated an improvement in participants' understanding of waste segregation at the source and increased commitment to adopting environmentally friendly practices. In addition, the initial assessment revealed that only one neighborhood unit (RW) had an active waste bank, highlighting the need to establish waste banks across all neighborhood units. The program demonstrates that collaboration among higher education institutions, local government, and the community can strengthen environmental stewardship and support sustainable waste management practices.
